Disassemble Governor (Earlier Engine)
start by:a) remove governor1. Remove the high and low idle screws cover. Remove the cover assembly plate, mounting bolts, nuts and screws. 2. Remove bolts (1) and the locks. Remove the two levers and shaft (5).3. Remove the rack stop collar retaining screw (6). Remove rack stop collar (7), collar and spring. Remove high and low idle screws (2). Remove mounting bolt (4) and idle screw housing (3). Remove the seals and bearings from the housing. 4. Remove speed limiter plug (10), spring (9) and plunger (8). 5. Remove screws (11). Remove governor housing assembly (21), seat (15), spring (20) and washer type spring (14).6. Disassemble governor housing (21) as follows. Remove governor control lever (16). Remove the bolt and lock that hold the lever assembly to the shaft. Remove the shaft, lever and seal from the housing assembly.7. Remove pin (12) from the fuel rack lever. Remove lever (17). Remove the bolts and lock (18) that hold the weight assembly to the body. Remove oil tube (13). Remove weight, piston and valve assembly (19) as a unit.8. Remove the rack control shaft from the weight and cylinder assembly. 9. Remove ring (22) and pin (23). 10. Remove seat (24), bolt (25), washers (26) and spring (27).11. Remove the sleeve and bearing assembly from the cylinder and weight assemblies. 12. Remove ring (30) from sleeve (28).13. Remove bearing (29) and races (31) from sleeve (28). 14. Remove valve (34) from piston (37).15. Remove ring (32).16. Remove weight assembly (35).17. Remove piston (37) and sleeve (33) from cylinder (36).18. Remove the O-ring seal from sleeve (33).19. Remove bolt (38), the lock and plate. 20. Remove governor drive pinion (39).21. Remove nut (41) and the washer that hold the drive gear for the weight assembly on the shaft. Remove shaft (40) from the body assembly. 22. Remove adapter assembly (42) from body assembly (43).23. Remove the lip type seal from adapter assembly (42).24. Remove oil pump gear (44) from the body.25. Use tool (A) and a press to push oil pump shaft and gear assembly out of body (43). 26. Remove weight assembly drive gear (45).27. Remove oil pump bypass valve plug (46), the spring and plunger from the body.Assemble Governor (Earlier Engine)
1. Install the oil pump shaft and gear assembly in the oil pump body. 2. Install drive gear (4) for the weight assembly on the oil pump shaft.3. Install plunger (5), for the oil pump bypass valve, spring (3), washer (2) and plug (1). 4. Use tooling (A) to install the seal in adapter assembly (6) with the lip toward the drive pinion. 5. Install oil pump gear (9). Put clean oil on the lip of the seal in adapter assembly (7) and both oil pump gears.6. Install adapter assembly (7) on body (8). 7. Install drive shaft (11) for the weight assembly and install the washer and nut that hold the shaft in place.8. Install governor drive pinion (10), retaining plate, lock and bolt.9.
