HOSE 2003105 - Caterpillar

1. Remove nuts (1), pulley (3) and pulley (4).2. Move damper (2) out approximately 25.4 mm (1.00 in). Fasten a strap and a suitable lifting device to the damper. Remove damper (2). The weight of the damper is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). 3. Remove bolts (5) and adapter (6). Remove studs (7) if a replacement is necessary.Install Vibration Damper & Pulley (3408 Engine)
1. If studs (2) were removed, install new studs. Tighten studs (2) to a torque of 54 6 N m (40 4 lb ft).2. Install adapter (1) and the bolts that hold it in position on the crankshaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 215 40 N m (160 30 lb ft). 3. Use a strap and a suitable lifting device to put damper (3) in position on the adapter. The weight of the damper is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).4. Install pulleys (4) and (5). Install the nuts that hold the pulleys and the damper on the adapter. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 135 13 N m (100 10 lb ft).Remove & Install Vibration Damper & Pulley (3412 Engine)
1. Remove twelve bolts (1) and plate (2).2. Remove two bolts (3) 180 degrees apart. Install Tool (A) in their place.3. Remove remaining ten bolts (3). 4. Use two people to remove outer damper (4). The weight of the damper is 27 kg (60 lb). 5. Loosen alternator belt (5) and remove pulley (6). 6. Use two people to remove inner damper (7) and adapter (8) from crankshaft. The weight of the damper and adapter is 41 kg (90 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the vibration damper and pulley.7. Install Tool (A).8. Install inner damper (7) and adapter (8) to the crankshaft.9. Install pulley (6).10. Install alternator belt (5).11. Install damper (4).12. Install twelve bolts (1) and plate (2).13. Install ten bolts (3). Remove Tool (A). Install remaining two bolts (3). Torque bolts (3) to 286 27 N m (210 20 lb ft).14. Use a belt tension gauge, such as a Borroughs Tool Company, Part No. BT-33-95 or equivalent; to check the alternator belt tension. The correct gauge reading is 120 5 for a new belt, or 90 10 for a used belt.
