LOADERS
990 (7HK, 4FR),
992G (7HR) WHEEL LOADERSProblem:
When re-assembling the air ducts into the right hand side of the cab, a poor fit can occur between the instrument panel cover and the front duct as well as between the right hand lower duct and the and the front upper duct. This is due to incorrect assembly of the air ducts. Solution:
It is recommended that the following procedure be performed when assembling or re-assembling the cab air ducts and instrument panel cover. 1. There is a vertical tab attached to the right hand wall of the cab just ahead of the rear wall of the cab, forming a slot to retain the lower right hand air duct. Check to see if the outside flange at the rear (large end) of the lower right hand air duct is firmly inserted into that slot, then install the bolts (two into the rear wall, and one into the floor at the front). With the duct properly installed, the front mounting bolt should be in the center of the mounting hole. The seal on the rear face of the duct should be on the curved surface leading into the duct, not on the flat face. If the seal is on the flat face, reposition the seal. The duct will not fit properly if it is spaced out from the wall of the cab by the seal.2. To install the front duct above the front dash, tip the left end of the duct up while inserting the tube on the bottom right hand end of the duct into the hole in the top of the right hand lower duct. Be sure the tube snaps into the hole in the lower duct. Lower the front duct on to the cab front ledge and fasten down. The holes should line up with the mounting holes in the cab. On 990 (7HK1-Up, 4FR1-224) Wheel Loaders, it may be necessary to enlarge the opening at the front of top surface of the lower right hand duct. If, when assembling the front duct to the lower duct, the front duct is pulled rearward from the mounting holes in the front ledge of the cab, correct this fit by enlarging the hole in the lower duct by removing 18 mm (.8 in) from the outboard side (side next to the cab wall), and 5 mm (.2 in) from the front edge of the hole. This will also correct the fit of the cover over the right hand instrument panel to the front duct.3. At initial delivery, and if the brackets which support the right hand instrument panel have been removed, it may be necessary to adjust the location of these brackets for a good fit of the panel and cover. After the cover is installed on the rear right hand cab corner, assemble the rear instrument panel bracket so that the mounting holes are 45.4 mm (1.8 in) ahead of the cab corner covers with the covers pressed tight against the cab
