(11) Drain plug.The pilot filter filters any debris that is in the hydraulic oil. The filter prevents debris from the pilot pump from contaminating the oil that is in the hydraulic tank.Pressure oil flows into filter housing (7) through oil inlet passage (5). The oil fills the space between filter element (8) and the inside of filter housing (7). During normal operation, the oil flows through filter element (8) to oil outlet passage (6). The oil then flows to the pilot relief valve. Filter element (8) stops any debris that is in the oil.If the filter element becomes plugged with debris, then the restriction to the oil flow will cause an increase in pressure inside filter housing (7). The pressure oil fills passage (2). This causes bypass valve (3) to move against the force of spring (4). The oil then flows past bypass valve (3) and through oil outlet passage (6) to the pilot relief valve. When the oil does not flow through the filter element, the debris in the oil could cause damage to other components in the hydraulic system.Correct maintenance recommendations must be followed in order to ensure that the filter element does not become plugged with
