Remove the engine and the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine and Torque Converter - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Place engine (1) onto Tooling (A). The combined weight of engine (1) and the torque converter is approximately 3946 kg (8700 lb).

Remove bolt (2) and plate (3). Slide tube (4) into torque converter (5).

Disconnect hose assembly (6).

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (5). The weight of torque converter (5) is approximately 442 kg (975 lb).
Disconnect harness assembly (7). Remove bolts (8). Remove torque converter (5). Connection Procedure
