AllA new version of Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) is now available. The new version of Cat (ET) will support the updates to the factory password system. The changes to the factory password system will start in the fourth quarter of 2008.The changes for the factory password system are listed below.
No Passwords will be available for service tool versions prior to Cat (ET) 2005B.
Cat (ET) 2005B and later can be used to obtain Factory Passwords with Reason Codes that do not involve Emissions or Regulatory Compliance. Cat (ET) version 2008A and later must be used to obtain Factory Passwords with Reason Codes for Emissions and Regulatory Compliance. Table 1 shows the Reason Codes.Make sure to update all service tool personal computers to version 2008A or later in order to avoid any complications with the restrictions that will take affect in the fourth quarter of 2008.
