Install bolts (27) that secure reinforcement plate (28) and the impeller to housing assembly (10) . Tighten bolts (27) to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).
Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (25) to carrier assembly (26) .

Lower the temperature of race and roller assembly (24) and sleeve assembly (23) . Install the race, roller assembly (24) , and sleeve assembly (23) to bearing carrier (20) .
Install retaining ring (22) to bearing carrier (20) .

Position bearing carrier (20) on the carrier assembly.
Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (21) to the carrier assembly.

Position ring carrier (19) onto a suitable press. Push ring carrier (19) until contact is made with the shoulder on output shaft (17) . Install ball bearing (18) .
Install the two seal rings to ring carrier (19) .

Position output shaft (17) , the ring carrier, and the ball bearing to the torque converter.

Use Tooling (J) to install lip seal (16) (not shown) to bearing retainer (14) . Install lip seal (16) (not shown) so that the lip of the seal faces toward the inside of bearing retainer (14) . Lubricate the sealing lip lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install the gasket, bearing retainer (14) , two seal rings (15) , and bolts (13) . Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).
Position the torque converter so that the front of the torque converter is facing upward. The weight of the torque converter is approximately 198 kg (437 lb).

Install the washer, retainer plate (12) , and bolts (11) to the output shaft. Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 80 10 N m (59 7 lb ft).

Install pilot (9) and bolts (8) to housing assembly (10) . Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).

Install Tooling (L) at Location (X) in order to align torque converter housing assembly (7) to the torque converter.
Install Tooling (A) (not shown) to torque converter housing assembly (7) . Attach a suitable lifting device to torque converter housing assembly (7) . The weight of torque converter housing assembly (7) is approximately 154 kg (340 lb).
Install torque converter housing assembly (7) to the torque converter.
Remove Tooling (L) and install bolts (6) .

Position flange (5) to output shaft (17) .
Use Tooling (D) (not shown) to measure the distance between the end of output shaft (17) and the shoulder on flange (5) . Record this Dimension as Dimension (W) .

Note: The thickness of the shims to use must have a total thickness of 0.13 to 0.25 mm (0.005 to 0.010 inch) less than the Dimension (W) that was recorded in Step 51.
Install O-ring seal (4) , shims (3) , retainer (2) , and bolt (1) . Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 240 25 N
