This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS50000" as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from Parts Stock as soon as possible.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the March 8, 2000 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the , Parts Needed and the Rework Procedure.

The final drive sun gears may wear into the wheel bearing retainer plate creating oil contamination on certain 824G, 834B, 825G, 826G, 836C Compactors and 980G and 988FII Wheel Loaders. The wheel bearing retainer plate needs to be replaced in the final drive.

Scheduled final drive compartment oil sampling will aid in detecting this problem. When a final drive SOS returns a high iron reading (in excess of 700 PPM), the final drive retainer plate needs to be inspected at the next scheduled axle oil change. After the axle oil has been drained remove the final drive covers, pull the sun gear/axle shaft and inspect the 1080059 Final Drive Retainer Plate for evidence of the sun gear wearing into the retainer plate.If there is evidence of wear, order the parts required to replace the final drive retainers in all four final drives and schedule machine for repair.

Replace as necessary other parts damaged by contamination.
1. Remove the final drive, the brake and the wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive, Brake and Wheel-Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.2. Remove all debris including the differential compartment if necessary.3. Install the new 1634527 Bearing Retainer Plate with using 10 new 8T2393 Bolts and 10 new 2S0736 Washers. Install the appropriate 1634526 or 1853653 Washer over the Axle Shaft between the new Bearing Retainer Plate and
