Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Release the pressure in the steering system and in the braking system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Drain the hydraulic oil tank for the steering system. For the correct procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering and Hydraulic Fan System Oil - Change" for the machine that is being serviced.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines. Plug all lines. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.The steering neutralizer valves are located above the upper hitch pin in the articulation joint.

Disconnect three hydraulic lines (1) from steering neutralizer valve (2) .
Remove bolts (3) and steering neutralizer valve (2) .
Repeat the procedure for the other steering neutralizer valve.Installation Procedure

Install steering neutralizer valve (2) and bolts (3) .
Connect three hydraulic lines (1) to steering neutralizer valve (2) .
Repeat the procedure for the other steering neutralizer valve.
Start the engine and check for leaks.End By:
Fill the hydraulic tank for the steering system with oil. For the correct procedure, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering and Hydraulic Fan System Oil - Change" for the machine that is being serviced.
Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
