Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this manual.

Loosen bolts (7) from the cover.

Remove bolts (8) and the washers. Remove cover (9).

Remove bolts (10) and the washers. Remove cover (11). Remove cover (12) and the rubber cover.
Illustration 11 g00735856Note: Cap all hydraulic lines and cap all hydraulic fittings that are disconnected to prevent oil loss. This will also keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system.
Disconnect four hose assemblies (13) from the swivel. Remove the hydraulic fittings from the top of the swivel.

Disconnect hose assembly (14). Disconnect hose assembly (15).

Remove locking bolt (16) from the swivel.

Remove hose clamp (17) from the rubber boot on the swivel.Note: The rubber boot on the swivel is flexible. This will allow the swivel to slide through the rubber boot as the upper frame is being raised.

Disconnect grease tube (18) from the fitting on the upper frame.
Remove all bolts (5) that hold the upper frame to the undercarriage frame.
Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy assembly.The heavy assembly can fall if using an incorrect hoist to lift the load.Be sure the hoist has the correct capacity to lift a heavy assembly. Approximate weight of the assembly is given below.

Use Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) to raise the upper structure. Raise the upper structure in 13 mm (0.5 inch) increments. The weight of the upper structure is approximately 8165 kg (18000 lb).

Raise the upper structure until the beam assembly in Tooling (C) is above swivel (19). Adjust the height of Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) to keep the upper structure level. The upper structure must be kept level to avoid damage to swing drive (20) and the swing bearing.Note: Use Tooling (D) to block up the beam assembly if the hydraulic jacks in Tooling (C) need to be adjusted.

Fasten a chain to the rear of undercarriage frame (21). Pull the undercarriage frame from the upper structure with a lift truck. Check the clearance between the upper structure, the swivel, and Tooling (C) while you remove the undercarriage. The weight of the undercarriage frame is approximately 5000 kg (11000 lb).
