(1) If using castle nuts, be sure to install with the flat sides facing each other.

Clean the threads of shaft (8) and cylinder assembly (9). Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of shaft (8) and cylinder assembly (9).
Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of shaft (8) and cylinder assembly (9).

Install shaft (8) into cylinder assembly (9). Use Tooling (G) to tighten shaft (8) to a torque of 1500 200 N m (1106 148 lb ft).Note: When removing Tooling (G), be sure to hold the inner nut while loosing the outer nut. Be sure that shaft (8) does not back off.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Use Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) with a suitable press to install nut (7). Tighten nut (7) until the assembled length of the spring is equal to 222 3.2 mm (8.7 0.13 inch).

Install grease fitting (6) and lock plate (5) .

Install seals (3) and (4).

Install plunger (2).
Install cotter pin (1).End By:
Install the recoil spring. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Recoil Spring and Track Adjuster - Install".
