Connect the steering frame lock.
Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Typical Example
Remove covers (1) and (2).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cover assembly (3). The weight of cover assembly (3) is approximately 74 kg (163 lb).
Remove bolts (4) and the washers.

Remove bolts (5) and the washers. Remove bolt (6) (not shown) and the washer. Repeat this step for the opposite side of cover assembly (3).
Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove cover assembly (3).

Disconnect hose assemblies (7) and hose assemblies (10).
Disconnect tube assemblies (9).
Remove tube assemblies (8).
Disconnect harness assemblies (11). Cut the cable straps.

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to main control valve (12). The weight of main control valve (12) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Remove bolts (13) and the washers. Remove bolts (14) and the washers. Use Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove main control valve (12). Installation Procedure
Install main control valve (12) in the reverse order of removal.
