--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Wear Protection to the bottom rear of 994 Wheel Loader buckets is provided by four 75 mm (3 in) thick triangular wear plates (A) which have counterbores to accept standard hex bolts and nuts. To increase strength, the new triangular wear plates have had an increase in plate thickness under the bolt heads from 20 mm (.8 in) (C) to 30 mm (1.2 in) (D) (see Illustration 2). To reduce the possibility of cracking, the new wear plates have an 8 mm (.3 in) radius (F) at the corners of the counterbore instead of a 6 mm (.2 in) x 45 degree chamfer (E). The new 144-1281 Right Hand Wear Plate and 144-1282 Left Hand Wear Plate are direct replacements for the former 134-2981 Right Hand Wear Plate and 134-2982 Left Hand Wear Plate.
In addition to the triangular wear plates, there are two other 75 mm (3 in) thick rectangular wear plates (B) mounted to the bottom of the bucket with plow bolts and nuts. As an alternative to the standard plow bolt mounted wear plates, two new wear plates, 75 mm (3 in) or 100 mm (4 in) thick, are available which use standard hex bolts and nuts. These alternative plates have an 8 mm (.3 in) radius at the corners of the counterbore to reduce the possibility of cracks.
