Turn off the machine and remove the key from the machine.
Disconnect two wires from the fuel sender and remove the fuel sender from the fuel tank. Remember the orientation of the float arm with respect to the mounting flange for the fuel tank.
Check the gasket for damage or wear. Replace the gasket, if necessary.
Install the new 187-8676 Fuel Level Sender As in the fuel tank.Note: Make sure that you orient the float arm in the same direction as the fuel sender that was removed.
Cut off the ring terminal from the machine harness.
Shorten the machine harness, if necessary. Then follow the instructions in Special Instruction, SEHS9615, "Servicing DT Connectors" in order to install the two pin 186-3736 Connector Socket on the machine harness.
Install the 447-PK wire on the machine harness in location 1 on the two pin connector.
Install the 200-BK or 201-BK wire in location 2.Note: Lightly pull on each wire in order to make sure that the terminal is locked in place.
Secure any excess harness length to the harness with a 3S-2093 Cable Strap by using the 4C-5877 Tool (cable tie). If a chain link is available, secure the harness to the chain link.
Turn the start switch to the RUN position. Observe the fuel level gauge in order to confirm the proper operation of the new fuel level sender.
