Note: Apply 7M-7260 Gasket Material on the seal bore surface which is in the case. Allow the gasket material to dry before installing the seal. Make sure that the gasket material is not applied to the lip seal. Lubricate the lip seal with a minimal amount of the lubricant which is being sealed.The pump drive housing can be positioned in either the vertical or in the horizontal position for the following procedures.Procedure for seating the bearings and adjusting the end play
Assemble the following components: the bearings, shaft (4), gear (1), gear (8), gear (9) and gear (10) .
Remove the seal from bearing cages (3), (7), (12), and (13). Install bearing cages (3), (7), (12), and (13) .
Torque four bolts (2) in bearing cages (3) and (7) to 34 N m (25 lb ft).Torque four bolts (2) in bearing cages (12) and (13) to 34 N m (25 lb ft).Note: Torque the bolts in an alternating sequence and repeat until all of the bolts are at the recommended torque.
Rotate the output shaft at least one revolution.
Repeat Step 3 for a torque of 68 N m (50 lb ft).
Rotate the output shaft at least one revolution.
Repeat Step 5 and Step 6 until all of the bolts are at a torque of 68 N m (50 lb ft).
Loosen the bolts. Rotate the components in order to be certain that the components have end play.
Torque four equally spaced bolts (2) in bearing cages (3) and (7) to 3.4 N m (30 lb in). Alternate between opposite bolts.
Rotate the output shaft at least three revolutions.
Repeat Step 9 and Step 10 until the torque stabilizes.
Use a standard feeler gauge to measure the gap between the bearing cages (3), (7), (12), and (13) and the bearing housing at two points that are 180 degrees from each other. Average the two measurements for each cage.
Add 0.25 mm (.01 inch) to the average measurements that were found in Step 12 in order to achieve the shim pack thickness for each cage.
Install the seals, shims, and bearing cages.
The end play should be 0.12 0.05 mm (.005 .002 inch).
