Reference: SENR5590 Electronic Troubleshooting for the 3508 EUI Engine.1. Remove cab floor plate to access hydraulic pump.
Hydraulic Fan Pump
(1) Pressure tap (discharge).2. Install 8T-0859 Pressure Gauge to pump discharge pressure tap (1) and install floor plate.3. Install 8T-8697 ECAP tool to connector on left side of dash.4. Place reflective tape on the fan drive hub.5. Install 1U-6602 Phototach with magnetic base, near enough (without fan hitting the phototach) to read fan speed.6. Set ECAP tool to zero percent override (closes the solenoid valve and causes the fan pump to run at maximum pressure). A. To set fan override: 1. Select screen "5" Diagnostic Tests.2. Select screen "3" Override Parameters.3. Follow instructions on the screen.7. Start engine and warm up to approximately 60°C (140°F).8. Set engine to high idle.9. Hydraulic fan pump discharge pressure should read 2000 psi.

(2) Adjustment screw (maximum pressure).10. Stop engine, loosen nut at adjustment screw (2) to set fan pump discharge pressure, if not set at pressure in Step 9. A. Turn adjustment screw "in" to raise maximum pressure.B. Turn adjustment screw "out" to lower maximum pressure.11. Fan speed should read 1050 rpm.12. Stop engine, loosen nut at adjustment (2) to set fan speed, if not at speed listed in Step 11. A. Turn adjustment screw "in" to raise fan speed.B. Turn adjustment screw "out" to lower fan speed. If fan pressure can not be adjusted to specification, unplug electrical connector to solenoid valve mounted on the bulkhead above and to the right of the hydraulic fan pump.If the hydraulic pump pressure can now be adjusted, the Engine Control Module (ECM) or related sensors may be faulty.Refer to SENR5590, Electronic Troubleshooting for ECM troubleshooting procedures.If the fan speed and pressure can not be adjusted to specification with the solenoid unplugged, the problem is likely one of the following: Debris in the solenoid.Worn fan pump.Worn fan motor.Debris in the motor check valve.13.
