New Lockwasher     4D-1326    Caterpillar recommends the following at the next scheduled maintenance interval for the belts.
Remove the springs that are for the belt tensioner.
Remove the arm assembly.
Clean the shaft that is for the arm assembly. Inspect the shaft for wear. If necessary, replace the shaft.
Apply grease to the shaft.Note: Grease the shaft whenever a belt is replaced.
Inspect the bushing that is in the arm assembly. If necessary, replace the bushing.
Install the arm assembly with the lockwasher and the hard washer. Refer to Illustration 1.
Inspect the springs and the bracket for wear. If necessary, replace the springs and the bracket with the new parts that are listed in Table 1.
Install the springs.
