Start By:a. remove axles
Typical Example1. Remove three bolts (2) an even distance apart from the final drive, and install three 3/4" - 10 NC × 4 in. (101.6 mm) bolts (1).2. Remove the remainder of bolts (2), and slide the final drive planet carrier out on bolts (1). 3. Adjust bracket (4) on Tooling (A) until dimension (X) is 254 mm (10 in). 4. Fasten Tooling (A), a hoist and suitable lifting device to the final drive planet carrier. Remove three bolts (1) and final drive planet carrier (3). The weight of the final drive planet carrier is 98 kg (215 lb).5. Remove the O-ring seal from final drive planet carrier (3). 6. If necessary, remove seal (4) from the spindle. If it is necessary to disassemble the planet carriers, see "Disassemble & Assemble Final Drives" in this module.Install Final Drive Planet Carriers (In Chassis)
1. If seal (4) was removed, use Tool (B) and install seal (4) in the spindle. Install the seal with the lip of the seal toward the spindle. 2. Install the O-ring seal on final drive planetary carrier (3).3. Fasten Tooling (A), a hoist and suitable lifting device to final drive planetary carrier (3). Put the final drive planetary carrier in position in the final drive housing and install three 3/4" - 10 NC × 4 in. (101.6 mm) bolts (1) spaced evenly apart.
Typical Example4. Install bolts (2) that hold final drive planetary carrier (3) in position.5. Remove three bolts (1) and install the remaining bolts (2).End By:a. install axles
