Additional Alert Indicators That Are Located On The Dash (11) Fuel Level (12) Engine Coolant Level The Caterpillar Monitoring System communicates back and forth on the CAT data link with the power train ECM. The Caterpillar Monitoring System provides alert indicators, gauges and numerical readouts for the power train ECM to use. The Caterpillar Monitoring System shows the following information regarding the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System.
The status of the ether starting aid is shown on alert indicator (10). When the ether starting aid is activated, this indicator FLASHES.
A problem with the transmission override pressure for the transmission is shown on alert indicator (5). When the transmission override pressure is less than a certain value, this indicator FLASHES.
A problem with the transmission oil temperature is shown on alert indicator (4). When the oil temperature is greater than a certain value, this indicator FLASHES.
A problem with the transmission system is shown on alert indicator (9). When the power train ECM detects a diagnostic code for the transmission system, this indicator FLASHES.
A diagnostic code is present when the diagnostic code indicator "SERV CODE" is illuminated in the display area. When the Caterpillar Monitoring System or the power train ECM detects a problem, this indicator shows "SERV CODE". The power train ECM uses the main display module on the Caterpillar Monitoring System for showing diagnostic information to service personnel. Diagnostic information concerning the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System is sent on the CAT data link to the Caterpillar Monitoring System. Service personnel must be familiar with the Caterpillar Monitoring System in order to troubleshoot the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System. The Caterpillar Monitoring System has several different modes of operation. For troubleshooting and calibrating the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System, service personnel must place the Caterpillar Monitoring System in certain modes of operation. The operator mode switch and the service switches change the display modes of the monitor. Operator Mode Switch

The operator mode switch (13) allows personnel to view certain machine information. The operator mode switch is a rocker switch in the row of switches that are located on the front dash. When the operator mode switch is pressed, the display area will show the different information that is available. The operator mode switch is functional only when the monitor is in normal mode. The following information is available when the operator mode switch is used: Hour meter - This is the normal information that is showing in the display area.Tachometer - The tachometer displays the Engine speed (rpm).Diagnostic Scrolling Mode - This information is provided so that personnel can view diagnostic codes that have been detected. Diagnostic codes from all systems are shown.
