At operating temperature the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the filler cap on the left hydraulic tank only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Ensure that all the hydraulic pressure is released before any fittings, hoses or components are loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted.
e. Carefully loosen the filler cap on the left hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.f. Tighten the filler cap on the left hydraulic oil tank.g. The pressure in the left hydraulic system has now been released. 5. Disconnect and plug three hose assemblies (1) from the steering neutralizer valve.6. Remove two bolts (2) that secure steering neutralizer valve (3) to the bracket assembly. Remove the steering neutralizer valve. The following steps are for the installation of the steering neutralizer valve.7. Install the steering neutralizer valves in the reverse order of removal.8. Fill the left hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to the 990 Wheel Loader Operation & Maintenance Manual, SEBU6628 for the correct fluid and filling procedure.9. Separate the steering frame lock link. Refer to the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.10. Start the machine and check the operation of the steering.11. Check the adjustment of the strikers on the steering neutralizer valves. Refer to the topic "Neutralizer Valves" in the Specifications, 990 Wheel Loader Steering System, SENR6648 for the adjustment procedure.Disassemble & Assemble Steering Neutralizer Valves
Start By:a. remove steering neutralizer valves1. Ensure that the outside of the steering neutralizer valves are thoroughly clean prior to disassembly. 2. Remove boot (1) and plug (2) from valve body (3). Remove O-ring seal from the plug. 3. Remove spool (4) and spring (5) from valve body (3).4. Check the condition of the lip-type seal in the valve body. If the seal is damaged, remove it and replace it with a new part. The following steps are for the assembly of the steering neutralizer valves.4. Ensure that all parts of the steering neutralizer valves are thoroughly clean prior to assembly.5. Check the condition of all O-ring seals used in the steering neutralizer valve. If any of the seals or valve parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Lubricate seals with the lubricant being sealed. 6. Install an O-ring seal on plug (2). Install spool (4), spring (5), and plug (2) into valve body (3).
