16. Put tooling (G) in position. Tighten the nut to a torque of 1350 150 N m (1000 110 lb.ft.). 17. Install tube assemblies (22) and (24) in the bevel gear case. Install the bolts and clips that hold tube (22) and (24) in place. 18. Heat bearing cone (21) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F), and install the bearing on pinion gear shaft (48). Use a 0.03 mm (.001 in.) feeler gauge to make sure the bearing is seated against the shoulder of the pinion shaft. 19. Install transfer gear (20) on the pinion gear shaft with the wide shoulder on the transfer gear toward the pinion gear. 20. Heat bearing (19) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F), and install the bearing on the pinion shaft. Use a 0.03 mm (.001 in.) feeler gauge to make sure the bearing is seated against the shoulder of the pinion shaft (48). 21. Install a 5/8" - 11 NC forged eyebolt (18) in the pinion shaft. Lower the pinion shaft assembly into position in the bevel gear case. The weight of the pinion shaft assembly is 61 Kg (135 lb.). 22. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (15), and install it in the transfer gear case. Use a 0.03 mm (.001 in.) feeler gauge to make sure the bearing cup is against the shoulder in the case. 23. Install the tube assembly (14) in the case. Install the clip and bolt that hold the tube in place. 24. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (13) and install it in bearing cage (12). Use a 0.03 mm (.001 in.) feeler gauge to make sure the bearing cup is against the shoulder in the bearing cage. 25. Put cage (12) in position on the transfer gear case. Install two bolts (49) 180° apart. Do not tighten the bolts at this time. 26. Heat two bearing cones (11) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F), and install them on transfer gear (10). Use a 0.03 mm (.001 in.) feeler gauge to make sure the bearings are against the shoulder on the transfer gear. 27. Use a piece of bar stock and a hoist to install transfer gear (10) in transfer gear case (5). 28. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (8), and install it in bearing cage (6).29. Install the bearing for the yoke assembly in cage (6) with tooling (F). 30. Install the lip-type seal in cage (6) with tooling (F). Make sure the seal is installed with the lip down. 31. Install the bearing cage on the transfer gear case without shims.32. Install two bolts 180° apart. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 14 N m (125 lb.in.).33.
