Loose or incorrectly positioned hose clamps may result in a coolant leak at the heater coil on the machines listed above. Loose worm drive clamps may spray coolant into the coil assembly and may make the coil appear to be leaking.Solution

Check the area around the hose clamps for signs of leakage
Remove the HVAC cover and inspect for a leak at the 124-6257 Hose Clamps.

Install new band clamps in place of previous clamps
Remove the clamps and replace with 521-6103 Band Clamps.Clamp position may also affect the sealing of the joint. Refer to Illustration 3.

The end of the hose should be approximately 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) from the center of the bead.
The edge of the clamp closest to the hose end should be approximately 6.4 mm (0.25 inch).
Never place the clamp over the bead or any portion of the bead.
When assembling a hose onto an elbow, avoid pushing the hose over or onto the elbow radius. The clamp for this joint should never be on the elbow radius.
The edge of the clamp, closest to the barb, should ideally be installed as close to the barb as possible without being installed on top of the barb.
The edge of the clamp should not be more than 7.0 mm (0.28 inch) from the barb.
