Ensure that the following guidelines are met when handling the Caterpillar Bluetooth key fob:
Do not apply more than 0.82 N m (7.26 lb in) of force when turning the key clockwise or counterclockwise inside the key slot.
For machines with a key switch ignition, do not remove the key fob from the key switch during machine operation. Leaving the key in the ignition ensures reliable wireless transfer data from the key fob to the transceiver. Removing the key will stop the engine.
For machines with an engine start switch, do not move the key fob more than 1 m (3.3 ft) away from the key switch during machine operation. This proximity ensures reliable wireless transfer of operator ID data from the key fob to the transceiver.
Ensure that the radio frequency propagation is not inhibited. Do not fully enclose the key fob in metal such as a metallic lunch box.
It is not recommended to keep the key fob in your back pocket while sitting in the cab.Battery Replacement Procedure
Refer to the following procedure when replacing the battery in the Caterpillar Bluetooth key fob.

(4) Opening feature
Locate the opening feature (4) on the key fob housing. The slot is next to the hex-shaped metal key ring. Refer to Illustration 4.
Use a coin to assist with the opening of the two-piece housing.

(5) Battery
Pull apart one side of the housing from the other to expose the battery (5). Refer to Illustration 5
Remove the battery by hand. Dispose of the battery in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Replace a new battery into the battery slot.
Align the housing enclosures and press together. The enclosures will snap into place.
