Information:

Front Axle Brake Group
(1) Head assembly. (2) Anchor pin. (3) Friction pad. (4) Metal backing. (6) Disc. When the brakes are applied, the hydraulic pressure moves both pistons and the force exerted on each side of the disc is equal. The pistons do not have return springs. The pads may be replaced (without removing the caliper) by removing the anchor pin and sliding the pad out.
Do not apply brakes with pads removed. The pistons must not be allowed to extend out of their bores as the pads are removed. Open the bleed valves on the caliper to relieve any pressure acting on the pistons. If the pistons should extend and expose the seals, caliper removal will be required to reinstall the pistons.
Driveline Disc Brake Assembly
Driveline Disc Assembly
(1) Disc assembly. (2) Pads. (3) Bleed valves. (4) Disc. Two bleed valves, on each caliper, enable air to be removed from the hydraulic brake system. Bleed the brakes whenever a disconnected line is reconnected in the hydraulic brake circuit. The driveline brake operates in the same manner as the front wheel brakes. The brake is actuated only after the front wheel brakes have reached their full braking capacity. This provides a "sequencing" effect. This brake stops the output shaft rotation by two pistons pressing pads (2) against a disc which is mechanically connected to the output shaft. The driveline brake differs from the front wheel brake in that the driveline caliper brake utilizes spring retractors and automatic adjusters for the pistons, and has only two pistons (one on each side of the disc).Light Duty Driveline Brake System
The light duty driveline brake, an optional brake system, utilizes the same caliper assembly as the heavy duty driveline brake system. There are no wheel brakes in this application. The driveline brake, as in the heavy duty system, stops rotation of the output shaft by two pistons pressing pads against a disc. The disc is mechanically connected to the output shaft.Secondary And Parking Brake (50S1-50S773, 55U1-55U285 And 94U1-94U98)
The parking brake is a mechanically operated caliper disc brake, mounted on the transfer gear case. The brake is manually operated by a hand lever (1) located to the right of the operator's seat. The parking brake linkage consists of a hand lever, cable, conduit and angle plates (8). When the hand lever (1) is operated, the cable is pulled, actuating the linkage and through action of the angle plates (8), forces the pads (3) against the disc (4).
Secondary And Parking Brake Control
(1) Parking brake lever. (2) Knob. (3) Pad. (4) Disc. (5) Yoke. (6) Eyebolt. (7) Cotter pin. (8) Angle platesSecondary And Parking Brake (50S774-Up, 55U286-Up, 94U99-Up, and 95U1-Up)
Secondary And Parking Brake Control Valve
The secondary and parking brake control valve controls the supply of air to the secondary and parking brake air chamber. With the knob (1) pulled up, the line to the secondary and parking brake air chamber is vented to the atmosphere. With the knob (1) pushed in, air flows from the reservoir into the secondary and parking brake air
