528 SkiddersWhen a hydraulic grapple is installed on a skidder, it is normally necessary to make additions and modifications to the hydraulic system. Extreme caution must be used if the additions and modifications are in or near the engine compartment. If there is a defect in a hose or tube, or if a fitting is loose, oil can drip or be sprayed (small drops of liquid thrown into the air by high pressure) on a hot engine part such as the exhaust manifold or turbocharger. This can cause a fire.
If possible, put the new components and lines outside the engine compartment. Install shields to prevent the possibility of hydraulic oil contact with hot engine parts.
