Dear Cat Product Owner:
The 250-3219 Input Drive Group needs to be inspected on the products listed below. The existing Input Drive Group can have a retaining ring installed that could cause a bearing failure. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 03Sep2013 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
Remove Upper Driveshaft Refer to RENR8575 "Drive Shaft (Upper)- Remove and Install".
Remove bolt (1). The bolt will not be reused.
Remove retainer (2).

Remove o-ring seal (3). The o-ring will not be reused.

Remove yoke (4).

Remove bearing cover (5).

Remove lip seal (6).

Remove o-ring (7).

Remove spacer (8).

Inspect for a retaining ring. There should not be a retaining ring assembled in this location.

If no retaining ring is found reassemble in reverse order and replace the o-ring seal, lip seal, O-ring seal, and bolt. Tighten Bolt (1) to a torque of 240 +/- 25 Nm.
If retaining ring is found and there is no damage to the retaining ring continue with
following steps.
If retaining ring is found and there is damage to the retaining ring or bearing remove transmission and repair as needed.
Use tooling 1P0074 in order to remove shaft assembly (9).

Remove bearing (10) from the shaft (11).

Raise temperature of bearing (10) to a maximum of 275 F and install on shaft (11).
Lower temperature of shaft Assembly (9) and install into transmission. Install
new spacer (8), Install new Oring (7) and lip seal (6) Into bearing cover (5).
Install bearing cover (5). Install Yoke (4), Install new oring (3). Install retainer (2).
Install New Bolt (1). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 240 +/- 25 Nm.
