Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

Support rear drive shaft (1) with a suitable floor jack, as shown.
Remove eight bolts (2) that fasten rear drive shaft (1) to the yokes.
Use the floor jack in order to lower rear drive shaft (1) to the ground. The weight of rear drive shaft (1) is 61 kg (135 lb).Installation Procedure
When the rear drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the rear axle assembly yoke. The rear drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and front drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use a suitable floor jack in order to place rear drive shaft (1) into position for installation. The weight of rear drive shaft (1) is 48 kg (105 lb).
Install eight bolts (2). Tighten eight bolts (2) to a torque of 530 70 N m (400 50 lb ft).
Lubricate the rear drive shaft. For the correct procedure, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.End By: Install the power train guard.
