Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
Do not strike any part of the assembly of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Do not allow any object to contact the internal element of the DPF. If the internal element of the DPF becomes damaged, the assembly must be replaced.
Note: After cleaning filter assembly or installing a new filter assembly, the Ash Service must be performed. Refer to , REHS7788, "Cleaning the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) on C2.4, C3.3B and C3.8 Engines" and the section on Soot Load for instructions.

Apply Tooling (A) onto the threads of temperature sensor (11). Install gasket (12) and temperature sensor (11) onto catalyst assembly (10). Tighten temperature sensor (11) to a torque of 29.5 4.5 N m (21.8 3.3 lb ft).

Apply Tooling (A) onto the threads of temperature sensor (7). Install collar (9), gasket (8), and temperature sensor (7) onto catalyst assembly (10). Tighten temperature sensor (7) to a torque of 29.5 4.5 N m (21.8 3.3 lb ft)

Install filter assembly (6) in the correct orientation for the exhaust flow as indicated by the arrow. Install bolts (5). Install gasket (4). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 52 3 N m (38 2 lb ft).

Apply Tooling (A) onto the threads of temperature sensor (1). Install body assembly (2). Install bolts (3). Install temperature sensor (1) onto body assembly (2). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 52 3 N m (38 2 lb ft). Tighten temperature sensor (1) to a torque of 29.5 4.5 N m (21.8 3.3 lb ft).
