A 1P-1853 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Start By:
Remove the gear pump (rear axle oil). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Rear Axle Oil) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

Remove key (1).

Illustration 3 g00567180Note: Two bearings (13) and ring seal (14) are not serviced. Ring seal (14) is only installed in the bore of the drive gear.
Remove four bolts (18) and four washers.
Remove housing assembly (17). Note: Mark the location of thrust plate (9) for installation purposes.
Remove O-ring seal (8) and thrust plate (9).
Remove drive gear (10) and idler gear (11). Note: Drive gear (10) has an internal spline which accepts the external spline on shaft (12).
Remove housing assembly (16).
Remove O-ring seal (8). Note: Mark the location of thrust plate (9) for installation purposes.
Remove thrust plate (9).
Use Tool (A) (not shown) to remove retaining ring (2) from housing assembly (15).
Remove shaft assembly (12) and bearing (3) from housing assembly (15).
Remove spacer (4).
Use Tool (A) (not shown) to remove retaining ring (6).
Position shaft (12) in a suitable press. Remove bearing (3) from shaft (12).
Remove spacer (5) and lip seal (7).
