(50)Cutting Edge And End Bits-Change cutting edge and use new end bits before wear starts on blade support.
1. Raise and block blade before changing cutting edge or end bits.2. Block cutting edge or end bit to prevent it from accidentally falling. 3. Remove cutting edge bolt nuts and remove bolts. 4. Remove cutting edge or bit. Clean contact surfaces on mounting base. Make sure mounting base is not damaged. 5. Use opposite edge of cutting edge if it is not worn. Use new section if both edges are worn.6. Always use new end bits.7. Install bolts. See G.E.T. BOLT TORQUE for tightening instructions.(51)Air Conditioning-Cleaning
1. Open cover on top left of ROPS canopy by turning "T" bolts 90°. 2. Loosen wing nuts on filters to remove filters.
When using pressure air, wear protective face shield and protective clothing. Use 30 psi (205 kPa) maximum pressure air for cleaning purposes.
3. Clean filters. Replace if necessary.4. Install filters.Recirculating Filter
1. Recirculating filter is located in the operator's compartment. Remove two bolts and cover. 2. Remove recirculating filter element.3. Clean and inspect element.4. Install element and cover. Install retaining bolts.(52)Cooling System Relief Valve
Always inspect cooling system with engine stopped.Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.Inhibitor contains alkali, avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Remove the relief valve body mounting bolts, located on the top of the radiator. Remove the relief valve body. 2. Remove the relief valve.3. If valve is dirty, clean the valve. Replace relief valve if damaged or is not functioning.4. Install relief valve on radiator.5. Install new gaskets on relief valve body.6. Install the body on radiator and install bolts.7. Observe coolant level. Maintain level to within 1/2inch (1 cm) of bottom of fill pipe. If poor cooling or fluid loss is still observed, see your Caterpillar dealer for service.(53)Seat Belt
Replace seat belt every 3 years regardless of appearance.
Inspect seat belt and mounting hardware. Replace any damaged components.(54)Fuses
1. When electrical circuits do not function, remove and inspect fuses. Replace any fuses with a broken element. 2. Reset circuit breaker if it is open. Have electrical circuits tested if circuit breaker opens shortly after being reset.(55)Flywheel Clutch Suction Screen
Wash suction screen whenever oil becomes thick or at time of repairs on brakes, transmission or flywheel clutch. 1. Remove cover housing spring and screen. 2. Separate cover, housing spring and screen. Wash screen in clean solvent. 3. Inspect cover gasket. Install new cover gasket if necessary. 4. Install screen, spring and housing to cover. Be sure pin in housing is aligned with hole in cover. 5. Install suction screen assembly.(56)Flywheel Clutch
A properly adjusted clutch will require a pull on the clutch lever of approximately 175 lb. (80 kg).Check adjustment with the engine stopped and the clutch cold.Slightly more effort may be required if the clutch is warm.To Adjust:
