Information:
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Operate the engine in order to warm the steering system oil. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

Push the button on the breaker relief valve (1).
Replace steering case drain oil filter (2) and steering oil filter (3).
Remove the oil filters.
Clean the filter mounting bases. Make sure that the old filter seals are removed.
Lubricate the seals of the new filter with clean oil.
Install the new oil filters by hand until the seal contacts the filter mounting base. Note the position of the index marks on the filter in relation to a fixed point on the mounting base. Note: There are rotation index marks on each filter that is spaced 90 degrees (1/4 turn) away from each other. When you tighten a filter, use the rotation index marks as a guide.
Tighten all filters according to the instructions that are printed on the filter. For non-Cat filters, use the instructions that are provided with the filter. Note: A strap type wrench or a suitable tool may be needed in order to turn a filter to the amount that is required for final installation. Make sure that the installation tool does not damage any filters.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check the filter for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the steering oil level in sight gauge (4). If necessary, add oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering System Oil Level - Check" for the proper oil level.
