External Components Of Feed Control
(1) Cable. (2) Sensor. (3) Sensor paddle. (4) Bracket.The feed control is attached to screw conveyor outer support bracket (4) at the rear of the machine. One end of cable (1) plugs into a receptacle on the rear wall of the tractor. The other end of the cable is connected to sensor (2). Sensor paddle (3) is mounted on a shaft coming out of the sensor. The bottom end of the paddle rides on top of the asphalt mix being distributed in front of the screed by the screw conveyor.

(15) Cable.The stem of potentiometer (13) fits into one end of shaft (5). The potentiometer is held in place by screw (11). The shaft is installed in bearing block assembly (6) with potentiometer bracket (12) lined up with potentiometer bracket post (7). The potentiometer bracket post prevents the potentiometer case from turning during operation. The sensor paddle is attached to the other end of shaft (5).Housing (8) covers the potentiometer and protects it from debris. Cable clamp (14) is installed into cover (9). Cable (15) is routed through the cable clamp and the wires attached to the potentiometer. The cover/cable assembly is fastened to the rest of the unit by screws (10). The housing is held in place by the cover.The other end of the cable has a quick disconnect coupling installed on it. The coupling attaches the cable to a plug on the rear wall of the tractor. The plug connects the feed sensor to the rest of the conveyor feed control system.Both feed control sensors are identical and function the same.Circuit Functions
