Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the idlers. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler - Remove" in this module.

Remove plug (4) and stopper (3) from the end of the shaft. A drill with slow speed and a 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) drill bit should be used.Note: The shaft can fall freely when the retainers are removed.
Remove eight bolts (2) with washers, and remove retainer (1) from both sides of the idler.

Remove O-ring seal (6) from retainer (1) .Note: Mark the components of the Duo-Cone seals when you plan a reinstallation. Install the seal components in the original positions.
Remove Duo-Cone seal (5) from retainer (1) .

Mark the components of Duo-Cone seal (7). Remove Duo-Cone seal (7) and toric stabilizer (9) from both sides of shaft (8) .

Remove washer (10) from both ends of shaft (8) .

Pull shaft (8) partially out of the idler in order to fasten a hoist to the shaft.Note: The shaft weighs 21 kg (46 lb).
Fasten a hoist to shaft (8). Remove the shaft from idler (11) .
