Connect to the machine with Cat ET. Select the VIMS main ECM, select Service Configuration to display the following screen (Refer to Illustration 2):
Once all documentation is gathered, simply highlight the areas and click "Change" at the lower left side of the screen. Refer to the Product Support Checklist.
Once the adjustments are made, it is recommended that the tire manufacturer conducts a tire heat test and compare the values from the heat test to the values within VIMS. VIMS will provide real-time values when you perform the following:
Enter parameter # 983 gauge key for the TKPH/TMPH Front.
Use the ">" key to view parameter # 984 TKPH/TMPH Rear.Usage and Adjustments
The TKPH/TMPH Monitoring and Control System in VIMS is based on the standard TKPH/TMPH calculations that are found in the technical tire data books for the specific tire manufacturer. VIMS modifies the algorithm in the following ways:
Data for the payload weight and data for the distance traveled are recorded once every minute. The distance traveled data and the payload data are stored as part of a rolling database. The database currently has a time base that can be adjusted from 1 to 8 hours. This time base will be increased to 18 hours with VIMS version 10.5 software. Only the movements of the machine for the time base of the trucks operation are used to calculate real-time TKPH/TMPH. The payload and distance traveled data is then averaged for the time base and used to calculate the real-time TKPH/TMPH value.
For each minute that the machine is "Keyed Off", a value of zero will be inserted into the database for the distance traveled and for the payload weight.
TKPH/TMPH makes adjustments for the time the machine is traveling loaded or traveling empty. When the machine is traveling empty, it is typical for the front and the rear axles to bear equal amounts of the machine weight. However, generally the front tires will have the higher TKPH/TMPH values generated while traveling empty. When the machine is loaded, one third of the weight will be on the front axle. This will result in a closer alignment of the front and rear TKPH/TMPH values.
A factor that is not included in the TKPH/TMPH calculations is the
