Remove the coupling from the engine. Disassembly and Assembly, "Coupling - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

Remove two bolts (1) and the washers that secure flywheel (2) to the engine crankshaft.

Install Tooling (A) to the engine crankshaft. Remove ten bolts (1) and the washers that secure flywheel (2) to the engine crankshaft.
Pull flywheel (2) away from the engine crankshaft until the face of flywheel (2) protrudes beyond the face of the engine block.

Attach Tool (B) to flywheel (2). Position a suitable lifting device to Tool (B). Secure the suitable lifting device to a hoist.
Remove flywheel (2) from the engine crankshaft. The weight of flywheel (2) is 86 kg (190 lb).Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Verify that all of the components of the flywheel are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Attach Tool (B) to flywheel (2). Position a suitable lifting device to Tool (B). Secure the suitable lifting device to a hoist.
Position flywheel (2) to the guide pins in the crankshaft. The weight of flywheel (2) is 86 kg (190 lb).

Push flywheel (2) along Tool (A) until flywheel (2) is seated against the engine crankshaft .
Install ten bolts (1) and the washers that secure flywheel (2) to the engine crankshaft. Remove Tooling (A) from the engine crankshaft.

Install two bolts (1) and the washers that secure flywheel (2) to the engine crankshaft.End By: Install the coupling to the engine. Disassembly and Assembly, "Coupling - Remove and Install".
