8.0 VDC Power Supply connections of the ECM
This diagnostic code is associated the 8.0 VDC power supply of the "Transmission/Chassis ECM". The 8.0 VDC power supply provides power for the left joystick, the inching pedal position sensor, the machine articulation angle sensor 2, and brake charge pressure sensor 2.The 8.0 VDC power supply for the "Transmission/Chassis ECM" is one of two power supplies that are used for the left-hand joystick. The other power source for the left-hand joystick is supplied by the Implement ECM.The CID 0041 FMI 04 diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM detects that the voltage of the 8.0 VDC power supply circuit is below normal. The following conditions could cause this diagnostic code:
A sensor has failed.
The sensor supply circuit is shorted to a ground source.
The ECM has failed. A failure of the ECM is unlikely.Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: The following test procedure may cause other diagnostic codes to be activated. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSORS
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code, as each component is disconnected. Disconnect the connector of the left joystick (J3), the "machine articulation" sensor 2, the "inching pedal position" sensor, and the "brake charge pressure sensor 2" from the machine harness. Expected Result:The CID 0041 FMI 04 diagnostic code is no longer active when one of the components in the supply circuit is disconnected. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is not active when one of the components in the supply circuit is disconnected. The power supply circuit is correct. The sensor that was disconnected, when the diagnostic code was cleared, has failed.Repair: Repeat this test step in order to verify the component that is causing the problem. Replace the component that is causing the problem.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code is still active. Disconnecting the components in the circuit did not affect the status of the diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY AT THE ECM
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
At the connector of the Transmission/Chassis ECM, J1, use a 151-6320 Removal Tool to remove the supply wire and the socket at contact J1-44 (wire T998-BR(Brown)) and the return wire and the socket at contact J1-45 (wire X800-OR(Orange)) from the connector. The machine harness connector J1 remains connected to the ECM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Use the multimeter probes in order to
