REWORK PROCEDURE
Rework procedure for removal and replacement ofthe maximum displacement stop set-screw for the model AP-800C. In order to perform this service letterit is advised that the machine be moved to the dealers shop. In order to perform the service letterthe screed should be removed from the machine. Refer to the Disassembly And Assemblymanual for instruction for removal of associated components from the machine.
The machine should be moved to a location suitablefor the machine to be raised and placed on the appropriate jack standscapable of supporting the weight of the machine.
Locate the main disconnect and turn it to theOFF position.
Locate the hydraulic tank in the center of themachine and remove the tank breather, this will allow pressure within thetank to vent.
Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container.
Remove the fumes ventilation fan and housing fromthe machine, this will allow access to propel motor hoses.
Remove the side covers located above the drivewheels.
Remove the screed leveling arms if not alreadyremoved.
Remove the drive wheels from the tractor.
Clean areas around propel motor hoses from asphaltand foreign material.
Mark and identify the hoses going to the propelmotor, propel planetary and remove the hoses from the motor and planetary.
Remove the planetary and mount from the side ofthe machine.
Clean the area around the bottom of the propelmotor.
Locate the maximum displacement stop set-screwon the bottom of the motor, the set-screw will be covered with a plasticprotective cap, remove the cap. SEE THE FOLLOWING NOTE IF THE SETSCREWIS BROKEN.
If the setscrew is broken the nutand a portion of the set-screw should be located inside the planetary housingthat was removed. There will also be a portion of the set-screw in themotor that will have to be extracted using the appropriate tools. Oncethe set-screw has been extracted join the two broken parts together Measurefrom the bottom of the set-screw to the base of the nut and record thereading and proceed to Step 16.
Using a 19mm socket, remove the set-screw andnut from the motor housing, being careful not to turn the set-screw withinthe nut.
Measure from the bottom of the set-screw to thebase of the nut and record the reading.
Install the new 3E-9851 nut and 8T-4244 nut ontothe 1G-8432 set-screw and lock the two nuts together at the dimension recordedin step 15.
Install the set-screw into the motor housing andtorque the nut to 40- lbs/ft, 54-Nm.
Repeat Steps 6 through 17 for the opposite side.
Install the planetaries and hoses going to themotors.
Fill the machine with hydraulic fluid.
Turn the main disconnect to the ON position.
Start the machine at low idle and allow hydraulicfluid to fill the lines that were removed.
Check the fluid level in the hydraulic tank andadd as necessary.
With the machine on jack stands the propel systemneeds to be run and the system checked for leaks.
Stop the propel system and turn the ignition keyOFF.
