Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.Always use precaution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, release it slowly in a well ventilated area.Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.Use a certified recovery and recycling cart to properly remove the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.
Open the engine hood. Evacuate the air conditioning system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134A Refrigerant"and Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools". The publications will provide the proper procedure, equipment and tools in order to evacuate the air conditioning system in any Caterpillar machine. Close the engine hood.

Open rear grill (1). The refrigerant condenser (2) is mounted on the radiator assembly.

Remove bolt (4) and the hose clamp.
Disconnect two hose assemblies (3) .
Remove two bolts (5) and the washers.

Release latch (6). Remove refrigerant condenser (2) .Installation Procedure

Install refrigerant condenser (2). Secure latch (6) .

Install two bolts (5) and the washers.
Connect two hose assemblies (3) .
Install bolt (4) and hose clamp.

Close rear grill (1) .Note: Use the following method to charge the air conditioning system. First, collect the refrigerant. Evacuate the system, and charge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant. The correct charge of refrigerant is 2 kg (4.4 lb).
Open the engine hood. Evacuate the air conditioning system and charge the air conditioning system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134A Refrigerant"and Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools". The publications will provide the proper procedure, equipment and tools in order to charge the air conditioning system in any Caterpillar machine.
