This is a 0.5-hour job
An additional 1.0 hour will be allowed if the tube assemblies have to be replaced due to damage.
Reasonable travel and mileage is authorized. Travel will only be authorized for one engine for multiple engines being reworked in a boat. Please reference the other engine serial numbers in the claim story.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The hose portion of the fuel line tube assemblies need to be inspected, reworked, and possibly replaced on certain C32 Marine Engines. The existing fuel lines can rub or chafe on other engine components that could potentially lead to a fuel leak. This leak may result in a fire, which may result in personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 11Feb2009 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
1. Inspect the ECM/Engine harness at the rear of the engine where it connects into the ECM J1/P1 and J2/P2 connection to ensure it is not making contact with the rear fuel hose. Inspect the fuel hose for any signs of chafing from contact with the harness.
2. Replace the hose with a new hose if there are signs of chafing on the hose. Use (2) qty 7K-1181 Straps to support the ECM harness so it does not make contact with the fuel hose after the hose has been inspected/replaced.
If the 5N-2368, 6N-3876, 106-4303 or 131-0113 hose assembly is damaged and needs to be replaced these hoses are not serviceable as a complete hose and must be fabricated. Refer to the Hydraulic Information System; HTTPS://HIS.CAT.COM for details.
