Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Open the lower door assembly on the left side of the machine in order to access the fuel transfer pump. Disconnect hose assembly (1), tube assembly (2), and hose assembly (3). Disconnect fitting (4).

Remove bolts (5) that secure fuel transfer pump (6) to the engine oil pump. Remove fuel transfer pump (6).

Remove drive coupling (7) from fuel transfer pump (6). Remove O-ring seal (8). Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install O-ring seal (8) to fuel transfer pump (6). Install drive coupling (7).

Install bolts (5) that secure fuel transfer pump (6) to the engine oil pump.
Connect hose assembly (3), tube assembly (2), and hose assembly (1) to fuel transfer pump (4). Close the lower door assembly.
