Replacement Procedure
Illustration 1. 1. Grind the leading edge of the plate portion of the screed assembly to make sure of a close fit between the screed assembly and the inside radius of the replacement screed plate.2. Check the wear pattern of the original screed wear surface. If the wear is uneven, use shims between this surface and the replacement plate to make sure the replacement plate is flat.3. Align the replacement plate under the screed assembly. Starting at the center, tack weld the front leg and trailing edge of the plate to the existing screed frame. (Note that the plate weight is 56.50 kg/124.3 lbs.)
Illustration 2.4. Use a 6 mm (.25 in) fillet weld bead in 50 mm (2.0 in) lengths. Each weld bead should be on 150 mm (6.0 in) centers intermittently along the entire plate length. Weld on both the front and the rear edges. Use a weld procedure that minimizes heat distortion.
