Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the transmission guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4311, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Note: Put identification marks on the tubes for installation purposes. Plug the tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container. The hydraulic tank capacity is 88 L (23 US gal).

Remove bolt (1), the washer, and the clip.
Disconnect two wires (2) .

Disconnect hose assembly (3) .

Disconnect tube assembly (5) .
Disconnect ground cable (4) .
Remove four bolts (6) and the washers. Carefully remove secondary steering pump and electric motor (7) .Installation Procedure

Install secondary steering pump and electric motor (7), as shown.
Install four bolts (6) and the washers.
Connect tube assembly (5) .
Connect ground cable (4) .

Connect hose assembly (3) .

Connect two wires (2) .
Install bolt (1), the washer, and the clip.
Fill the hydraulic tank with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7459, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure., End By: Install the transmission guard. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR4311, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
