Enclosure connector for the temperature sensor circuits
At the harness wiring connector outside of the enclosure, connect a jumper wire between the Generator Winding 2 Temperature sensor positive (+) contact 10 (wire K468-GN(Green) and the negative (-) contact 11 (wire K466-WH(White)).
At the Drivetrain ECM, disconnect the J1 harness connector from the ECM. Examine the pins on the ECM and the sockets on the J1 connector. Ensure that all of the pins and sockets are secured in the connector. Ensure that all of the circuit contacts that are used in the connector are clean and the contacts are in good condition.
At the ECM J1 harness connector, measure the resistance between the Generator Winding 2 Temperature Sensor positive (+) contact J1-30 (wire K468-GN(Green)) and the negative (-) contact J1-21 (wire K466-WH(White)).
While observing the resistance measurement, wiggle the J2 harness connector for the ECM and have someone wiggle the wiring harness and the harness connector for the temperature sensors. Do not disconnect jumper wire. Gently pull on the sensor circuit wires on each connector. Note: In the next two steps, the redundant return circuit will be checked for an open circuit or poor connections. The sensor will work with one return circuit open, however, an open return circuit should be corrected for proper sensor operation.
At the sensor harness connector on the Generator, move the jumper wire to connect between the Generator Winding 2 Temperature sensor positive (+) contact 10 (wire K468-GN(Green) and the negative (-) contact 12 (wire K466-WH(White)).
At the ECM J1 harness connector, measure the resistance between the Generator Winding 2 Temperature Sensor positive (+) contact J1-30 (wire K468-GN(Green)) and the negative (-) contact J1-21 (wire K466-WH(White)).
While observing the resistance measurement, wiggle the J2 harness connector for the ECM and have someone wiggle the wiring harness and the harness connector for the temperature sensors. Do not disconnect jumper wire. Gently pull on the sensor circuit wires on each connector. Expected Result:Each of the resistance measurements is approximately 5.0 ohms or less than 5.0 ohms at all times during the manipulation of the connectors and the wires.Results:
OK - Each of the resistance measurements is correct. The resistance measurements are indicating that there is not an open circuit or a poor connection in any of the temperature sensor circuits. Proceed to the Test Step 3.
NOT OK - At least one or both of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor positive circuit and a temperature sensor negative circuits is greater than 5.0 ohms. There is an open circuit or a poor connection in one of the circuits that measures the high resistance.Repair: A resistance measurement that is greater than 5 ohms but less than 5000 ohms could indicate that a circuit is not open but may contain a poor connection. A resistance measurement that is greater than 5000 ohms could indicate that a wire is either not connected or is open.Check each circuit individually in order to isolate the circuit that has the problem.Check the connectors in the circuit in order to
