Install the two 6V-6106 Dial Indicators to two 122-0449 Rod Sleeve Extensions in the pinion cage assembly. See Illustration 5 and 13.Note: Attach the 3S-3269 Contact Point to the dial indicator.
Before applying the 1U-7552 Hydraulic Cylinder, install the drive shaft (D). See Illustration 8.
Apply 18615 kPa (2700 psi) of pressure and close 1S-8937 Needle Valve. Rotate the pinion by turning the drive shaft (D) at least two revolutions.Note: It is critical to rotate the pinion in order to obtain the proper seating of all the components. If the pressure drops during rotation of the pinion or after rotation of the pinion, open the needle valve in order to increase the pressure to 18615 kPa (2700 psi). Close the needle valve and rotate the drive shaft (D) at least two revolutions.
Repeat Step 20 until the pressure reading after rotating the pinion is stable.
Open the needle valve and relieve all of the pressure to 0 kPa (0 psi).
Increase the pressure to 5170 kPa (750 psi). Rotate the pinion by turning the drive shaft (D) at least two revolutions.Note: It is critical to rotate the pinion in order to obtain the proper seating of all the components. If the pressure drops during rotation of the pinion or after rotation of the pinion, open the needle valve in order to increase the pressure to 5170 100 kPa (750 15 psi). Close the needle valve and rotate the drive shaft (D) at least two revolutions.
Repeat Step 23 until the pressure reading after rotating the pinion is stable.
Record the average measurement from both dial indicators.
The required thickness of the shim pack is the average measurement that is recorded in Step 25 plus 0.18 mm (0.007 inch).
Disassemble the bearing cage and install seals to the bearing cage. Reassemble the bearing cage with the proper shim pack thickness to the carrier housing.

Install all NEW cage bolts and washers without thread sealant. Tighten the cage bolts to 50 5 N m (36.9 3.7 lb ft). All the bolts should be rotated an additional 60 degrees plus 5 degrees or minus 5 degrees. Use the tightening sequence 1 through 4 that is shown in Illustration 14.
