Removal Procedure
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Open the left side access door. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Open hood assembly (1).
Remove two bolts (2) and the two washers. Open engine access door (3).

Remove the nut and cable assembly (4) from electric starting motor (7).
Remove the nut and ground strap (5) from electric starting motor (7).
Disconnect harness assembly (8) from electric starting motor (7).
Remove three bolts (6), the three washers, and electric starting motor (7). Installation Procedure
Install electric starting motor (7) in the reverse order of removal.
If a Denso electric starting motor is installed on the machine, tighten the terminals to a torque of 21.5 3.5 N m (190 31 lb in).
If a Bosch electric starting motor is installed on the machine, tighten the terminals to a torque of 26 4 N m (230 35 lb in).
