Note: The ring gear must be installed with the chamfered side of the teeth upward. The chamfered side of the gear teeth will be facing toward the electric starting motor when the flywheel is installed correctly.
Raise the temperature of ring gear (4). Install ring gear (4) on flywheel (2) .Note: Do not use a torch to heat the ring gear.
Install Tooling (B) in the crankshaft.Note: Tooling (A) may be used in order to orient the dowel on the crankshaft with the dowel hole in the flywheel. Position bore (1) toward the top of the flywheel.
Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel (2). The weight of flywheel (2) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb). Position the flywheel on the engine. Remove Tooling (C) .
Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (3). Install bolts (3) in flywheel (2). Remove Tooling (B). Install remaining bolts (3) .
Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 270 40 N m (199 30 lb ft).
