Introduction
This machine can cause severe injury or death if operated by untrained personnel.If you are not trained in accordance with mine practice in the operation of remote control for this machine, DO NOT OPERATE.
This machine has a remote control ready system installed. The remote control ready system enables an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) transmitter and receiver to be installed to control the machine remotely.With the transmitter and receiver installed, one operator is able to control the machine remotely via a wireless link.Note: Before operating the machine by remote control, refer to the OEM transmitter and receiver operator manual for machine operation information. Refer to the OEM for transmitter and receiver installation, maintenance, and other information.Note: Contact your Cat® dealer for information on OEM transmitters and receivers suitable for this machine within your region.The remote control ready system components installed on the machine are:
Remote control switch
Warning lights
Interface control module
Steering and bucket control valve and lines
Wiring harnessesThe following sections provide information about the remote ready system installed to the machine.Before Operation
A safe operating distance in accordance with mine practice must be maintained between the machine and the operator and transmitter.Operating the machine within an unsafe distance can be dangerous and could result in severe injury or death.
Before using the machine on remote control perform a walk around inspection. Check oil and water levels, and check for leaks and damage.Operate the machine manually to ensure that all controls operate normally and the brakes operate effectively.Always ensure that no personnel are near the machine or in the area where the machine will be operating while on remote control.Do not carry out any service work, testing, or adjusting on the machine while the machine is operating on remote control.
Park the machine in a convenient and safe location to start remote control operation.
Move the transmission direction and speed control to the NEUTRAL position. Move the steering and transmission lock control to the locked position. Note: The transmission direction and speed control must be in the NEUTRAL position. Failure to put the transmission direction and speed control in the NEUTRAL position may result in the start function being disabled.
Engage the parking brake.
Lower the bucket and move the hydraulic controls to the HOLD position.
Stop the engine.

Move remote control switch (3) to the upper position to turn on the remote control system. Green light (4) on the operator station will light up and stay on while the remote control system is activated. Amber light (5) will light up and stay on until the brakes are released by the remote control system.
Do not operate the machine if the amber light remains ON. This indicates the machine has either low brake oil pressure or the brakes are applied. Driving the machine with the brakes applied for an extended period can cause severe damage to the braking system.
Move front light switch (1) and rear light switch (2) to the lower position to turn off the front and rear lights.
