Before installation, lubricate grooves for the piston rings in the piston body with clean engine oil. After assembly, lubricate the mating surfaces of piston rings and the liner with clean engine oil.
1 1 347-1085 Piston Ring Install the top piston ring with the side marked "UP" toward top of the piston. Orient the "ORANGE" color stripe face to the right of the piston ring end gaps.
Clearance between the ends of the top piston ring is 0.525 0.075 mm (0.0207 0.0030 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 3.600 0.010 mm (0.1417 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 3.470 0.013 mm (0.1366 0.0005 inch).
2 1 348-8779 Piston Ring Install the intermediate piston ring with the side marked "UP" toward top of the piston. Orient the "ORANGE" color stripe face to the right of the piston ring end gaps.
Clearance between the ends of the intermediate piston ring is 1.700 0.150 mm (0.0669 0.0059 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 3.600 0.010 mm (0.1417 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 3.470 0.020 mm (0.1366 0.0008 inch).
3 1 223-6361 Piston Ring The ends of the oil control piston ring should be at a distance of 180 degrees from the ring end gap when the oil control piston ring is assembled. The "BLUE" color stripe of oil ring spring should be visible at oil ring end gap.
Clearance between the ends of the new oil control piston ring is 0.50 to 0.80 mm (0.020 0.032 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 4.060 0.010 mm (0.1598 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 3.980 0.010 mm (0.1567 0.0004 inch).
4 2 8N-7296 Pin Retainer Install the pin retainer with the opening towards top of the piston as shown in Illustration 1.
5 1 138-8506 Piston Pin Thoroughly lubricate the piston pin with clean engine oil before the piston pin is inserted into the piston body assembly and the rod assembly.
Outside diameter is 69.962 0.005 mm (2.7544 0.0002 inch).
Length is 137.60 0.13 mm (5.417 0.005 inch).
