PROBLEM
Certain existing stock of 0R7422 and 0R7423 Vane Cartridge Groups may have incorrect vane inserts which are only chamfered on one edge while the correct ones have chamfers on two edges. The incorrect vane inserts do not allow the vanes to operate correctly at low machine idle, which creates pump noise and improper pump flow at idle.

Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
0.5 hour will be allowed for each 0R7422 or 0R7423 Cartridge Group in dealer parts stock that is inspected and reworked. One 6E1979 Vane Kit will be allowed per cartridge group if needed. Please include the Reman Part Number and Serial Number for each cartridge kit that is reworked in the warranty claims story.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Inspect all 0R7422 and 0R7423 Cartridge Groups in dealer stock for the affected serial numbers. Refer to Image 1.1.1 for location of the serial number on the inlet plate. The first six digits of suspect serial number range are 145355 through 164793. If the serial number of the vane cartridge is NOT from the suspected range or in this format, then return cartridge group to its original packaging, mark the package to indicate it has been inspected, and return to dealer parts stock.

If the serial number of the vane cartridge IS from the suspected, refer to instructions below for inspecting and changing the vane inserts. After the cartridge group has been reworked per the instructions below, return cartridge group to its original packaging, mark the package to indicate it has been reworked, and return to dealer parts stock.
Disassemble vane cartridge by removing the two bolts shown in Image 1.3.1. and remove inlet plate and flex plate. Note orientation of the flex plate for installation. Remove vanes and vane inserts from the cam ring as shown in Image 1.3.2. If the inserts have a non-chamfered edge as shown in Image 1.3.3, then it will need to be changed. Inserts should have two chamfered or rounded edges as shown in Image 1.3.4.

Replace incorrect inserts with new vanes and inserts from the 6E1979 Vane Kit. When reinstalling the vanes with the inserts, make sure the vanes are inserted in the orientation in which they are removed. The leading edge of the vane must be in the direction of rotation as shown in Image 1.4.1. Refer to Image 1.4.2 for correct installation of flex plate. Reinstall inlet plate and tighten bolts to 105 +/- 5 in-lbs.
