* Linings Wear Not Even (2)Replace the brake pad when the thickness of the linings is very different on each brake pad. Check the pistons for correct operation. Replace pistons that are locked in the bore. Check that the disc surface is flat and parallel to the linings. * Oil or Grease on LiningsRemove grease or oil with denatured alcohol. If grease or oil cannot be removed, replace the brake pad. * Cracks on LiningsReplace brake pads that have cracks in the lining.
ALWAYS REPLACE BRAKE PADS IN PAIRS. IF ONLY ONE BRAKE PAD IS REPLACED, DISC DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
Higher machine speeds will not yield optimum compaction and may result in waves in the asphalt profile and/or material damage. The best compaction results are obtained by keeping working speeds below 10 km/h. Lower speeds will give optimum compaction results and smoother mat finish.However, Caterpillar realizes that for certain applications, i.e. chip & seal, it is desirable to compact at higher speeds. Therefore, Caterpillar will release a brake system for the PS/PF-300B with increased capacity and the long brake system life our customers can expect on the current machine when utilizing only first and second speeds for production cycles.
